I try to contribute to SAHR regularly (as regularly as it comes out

)
Other than that I do try to get the message out that this kind of thing can be (and is being) done right here in SA by doing the occasional show, talks at car clubs, my formal courses as well as informal "open house" events.
I do have to say their is a little bit of niggle that comes from the frustration due to about 95% of telephone responses to ads going like this:
"Wow, I am so glad I found you. Please tell me more about these courses you do"
"Sure, the courses are designed to give a grounding in sheetmetal shaping. The idea is to teach you all the basic processes. We cover the theory, and you actually make a panel yourself. Everything is done with handtools so you can go away and immediately start practicing without needing any expensive equipment""Awesome - you know I've ALWAYS wanted to learn this. How long is the course and what is the cost?"
"3 days. As far as possible we will structure the dates to suit attendees needs. Even over weekends. Cost is R4500-00 which includes all your notes, materials used and daily refreshments""This is so fantastic. I'm DEFINATELY coming. Where are you based"
"We're on a little wine farm just outside Stellenbosch""Oh no, that's too far. Can't you be closer to me?"...................
OK go figure, mini rant over

- anyway, for anyone that
seriously "Always wanted to learn this" Travelling to Stellenbosch and paying in rands is a LOT cheaper than travelling to the States or the UK (and paying in rands!!!)
