Yeah, I'm new, and old, at the same time... SWMBO and I own too many Ford vehicles,
not new ones, the newest is a pair of '87 XR4Ti, plus four Capris, two Mk1s, two Mk2s,
and a '78 Bronco with a 460ci/C6 just to keep it interesting...

So a pic of my weekend toy is in order...

Image

Just a simple US spec '73 Capri, 302/T5/9" rear end...

Image

It's used for errands on the weekends, and shows mostly, Just a hair over 300hp and torque
makes for an entertaining drive...

Glad to be here...

SteveL

Welcome!!

Interesting to note the "Capri" Lettering on the bonnet, park lights on the sides, wheels arches obviously bigger, "air ducks" where the front bumper should be. Are these all standard on the US spec cars? Also rather large wheels are they 17 inch? What did the original wheels look like on your cars? Did they come with v8 or is it a conversion?

Sorry for all the questions. All and all a very nice car! I love the headers on there!

Thanks for the welcome, and to answer the questions...

The Capri was sold as a Mercury in the US, so we got the Capri lettering, not "Ford"
however, the early imports had the 3/8" X 1" blue oval with Ford script on the sill
plates of the door...

The side marker lights have been required in the US since 1968...

Yes, the wheel arches have been modified to fit the 15" wheels, 195/60R15 front
and 235/60R15 rear, I still have to lower the rear of the car, the springs only settled
an inch, so need to lower it another 3 inches to get it level. All the Capris came with
Rostyle wheels stock, later models had the option of Ghia wheels...

The "air ducts" in the front valance are actually holes left over from removing the
5mph bumpers and the energy absorbers which were required on the front of all
US vehicles in 1973...

In 1973 the biggest engine the US got were 2.6L V6s, so this one is a conversion...

Hope that answers everyones questions, if you guys think up more, I'll do my best
to answer them...
