Road Trains

Post by Graeme » Mon 10 Aug 2009, 11:14

I know this not much to do with muscle cars but does any of the Aussie members
drive or has a pic or two of the the famous road trains.I have a passion for long
distance haulers and will someday own a nice Peterbuilt super link with cummins engine.
I have family that drive Scanias in the Uk and make a healthy living from hauling across
Europe.
Cheers

A few places here in the USA it is legal to run 'triples' (three trailers) and in most places doubles are OK.

Hi Graeme,

Your wish is my command. A triple Roadtrain is 52 metres long on a normal road but can be longer on Mine Roads.

Bearhawke I think you will find that they don't run Road Trains in the USA but B Doubles & Triples they are much shorter in length.

Here is some photos of my Rig " BOXY'S BANGER"
525 Cummins
18 speed Eaton Gearbox
Rockwell Diff
143 Tonne Rated

3 Trailers, 2 dollys. 56 wheels on the Road normally.
Average 8000km a weekly.

1. 3 Trailers heading home towards Munjina Gorge the scenery through here is great a lot like SA so I have been told.

2. This photo Triple Road Train again 300km south of Broome West Australia we had a massive cyclone behind me a cyclone is like a Typhoon.

3. This photo was an early morning shot with 3 matching low deck trailers I was 100 km South of Port Hedland WA. Allied Pickfords used this photo as a World wide photo for Allied.

Tiaan sorry for the non Muscle car post BUT 525 HP is TUFF............

Nice Rig Boxy! I was too involved on the Gold Coast and never had the priveledge of seeing one close up!

8000km a week means a lot of servicing!
