Is anyone fimilar with the South African history of the 73 Pontiac Grand Prix, were they popular, how many came into the country, did the they come in via GM South Africa, are there still any around?

It seems to be another of GM's one year only models, the 72 and the 74 were quite different from the 73 which has the little 'opera' windows, different tail lights etc.

Mine seems to have have come in from a dealer in Canada, it is a left hand drive, full spec. and looking good (just being painted silver pearl) upholstery and carpets this week.

Would like more history if I could.

Aside from a few unique yearly changes the GP's shared the same body style for 73 through 77 model years..
They share lots of parts w/ other 73-77 GM A-Body cars...Chevy Chevelles & Monte Carlos, Pontiac Lemans, Olds Cutlass and Buick Regals etc..

A lot of the GM product shipped into SA came from Canada and that's always a great thing as you can document your VIN through GM Canada for cheap..
