Recently, a member was banned for predatory behaviour combined with a lack of social graces. However, we seem to condone the actions of Dealers who openly ply their trade on the forum, while paying lip service to the hobby.
I can't see where there is much difference?

Re: Fairmont GT Numbers
I do not see what all the fuss is about? The Gent in question also PM'd me but I am old , not stupid. His intelligence however, is another matter entirely. The only Fairmont GT worth acquiring at present would need to be ridiculously cheap, as their values have plummeted in Australia and most seem a...

Re: Perana battery position
"All Peranas had the battery in the engine bay". With all due respect, you will have to excuse me if I don't take this definitive statement too seriously. You see, within a year of these cars going on sale, many of the limitations brought about by such a conversion were already becoming apparent. Me...

Re: Perana battery position
Why don't we just ask Basil !!! Oh I forgot, he either can't remember, does not want to remember or just plain does not care!! Unless detailed records can be produced, highlighting every option fitted and modification made for ALL Peranas built, we can't be 100% sure of anything. Surely, the inaccur...

Re: Fairmont Gt club for SA???
What a great idea! Let's get all the remaining GT's into a club where some enterprising rogue can eventually spirit them all away. Talk about shooting fish in a barrel! The internet (and our own foolish egos) has already made the job of finding these cars too easy. Let's not hand them over on a plat...

Re: gt fairmont wanted
Graeme, I am afraid that you are living in the past with your references to the pots of money to be made by exporting cars back to Australia! At first, this was a valid criticism but there is not much money in such pursuits anymore. Fairmont GT's and Monaros are proving VERY hard to sell in Australi...

Re: gt fairmont wanted
It's interesting to note, that the recent past seems to be the scope of most peoples experience with these cars. Where was all the enthusiasm and interest in the breed during the late 70's right up until they were rediscovered in the late 90's? It lay in a very small band of enthusiasts who maintain...

Re: Capri 3.0 GT on Gumtree
The price is outrageous. They say a picture is worth a thousand words but unfortunately this old chestnut does not apply to cars. At 85k, I would have expected a car which bore close adherence to the published photos (and description). "One Owner"! "Spotless condition"! "One for the serious collecto...

Re: gt fairmont wanted
Dan, you are 100% correct!! A decade ago, nobody wanted these cars. As I have mentioned before, It was very hard to sell even good examples (you almost had to give them away!!). In time, ALL the GT's will have made their way to Australia or New Zealand. Those who think that they can hold back the ti...

Re: When is a Perana not a Perana?
The problem being, that most if not all Peranas have been modified to some extent. Even those cars considered as "reference" examples often display irregularities. Try comparing detailed photos of 5 well kept "original" cars and you will soon see that ALL differ in subtle ways ( sometimes not so sub...
