Re: 1964 Impala SS

Top class stuff Johann - you guys did an awesome job.
That dash was a LOT tougher to build than it looks, especially since the car was 1600km away... 8O 8) 8)

Glad to have been given the opportunity to play a small part in the build, and such a pleasure to work with you and your client!

Re: v6 mods

Can anyone recommend who will be the best (preferably Cape based) guys to speak to on some mild upgrades etc? I have a 3l V6 with auto box in a Bedford CF that I want to be both a tow vehicle, as well as hopefully being economical enough to use as a daily. Budget is an issue, so I won't be swapping ...

Re: Cape car builders

I think it may be a battle to find one shop that will do it all, properly, and at a reasonable cost. My only real (and often repeated) advice is to research your options THOROUGHLY. This means talking to past clients, properly checking out previous work (don't be fooled by shiny 8O 8O ) etc etc. The...

Re: Ford V6

Just going to jump in here and join the ride - I recently picked up a Bedford CF with V6 & auto box which will be my tow rig for Speedweek this year. Need to know a little more about them too (I last owned one 20 years ago - 3litre Courier - I loved that thing, and open road mileage getting close to...

Re: relocating petrol tank on 56 chevy pickup

Fair enough, though I'd expect the tank to be vented (and/or run a vented cap) and so wonder about the pressure build up? Only asking as I recently had a one-off custom bike tank I made blown up like a balloon by some dick who was supposed to be doing a lining for my client - 50 hours of work destro...

Re: relocating petrol tank on 56 chevy pickup

Curious about the need to pressure test Hugh? Will the tank be pressurised?

Re: My 1956 Ford F100

Cool - I started doing it because mill scale eats up abrasives so quickly (and I'm cheap ;-) ), but it is just so much nicer to work with 'clean' metal. Great if you're doing layout work too - scale 'bluntens' scribers really quickly.... Also, not sure how you're having this stuff cut, but if it's l...

Re: My 1956 Ford F100

Looks like you're making good progress there Hugh. Have you thought about removing mill scale prior to assembly/welding? Not a BIG deal, but it will help weld integrity. I use hydrochloric (pool) acid - if it is warm it will remove scale in seconds (though if the steel is heavily oiled it will help ...

Re: Modern Jag Suspension

Thanks for the links on tubing - I'll follow those up next time I'm building a suspension (or a roll cage)

Hugh that front end looks well designed - rather complex, but I'm sure it will be worth it!
