Hi jmvv. You should check if you have a later or early C4, the early being the 157/24 spline and the later 164 tooth/26 spline input shaft respectively. Post pics and we will tell you. You can`t murder the pump, but is not gonna work using a 26 spline converter with a 24 spline gearbox. Also a start...

This probably is the adjustment of the back shoes.
To make sure, pull the handbrake and check the pedal height, should be high now.

No need for alloy Rassie, actually i have a steel one i bought at a meeting, but is very big and touches the washer bottle. Yours looks more compact.
