Re: How to buy a Chevy 350

Hi Waterhond, I sat with that same dilema a while ago. The 383 in my boat towing vehicle "blew up" and I was forced to replace. I was concerned about the human error factor, as I could not do the build myself- and at that stage I did not know of knowledgeble guys such as Mark, that could build a per...

Re: WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU ?

Dear Heavy D. I was one of the writers- and I am never shy to apologise, if I have made a mistake. Your opening post however, stated clearly that you had "found" this treasure- implying that you were with or at it- and coupled to the spammers on the forum, you can appreciate that we thought that thi...

Re: Need some help from Mustang owners !!!

If I were heavy D, I would hang my head in shame ! He / She has tried to "impress" the other forum members- and never considered that there are knowledgeable people on here, who have access to the internet- and specifically researches cars. People like this are plentifull- and they are always the gu...

Re: What are you doing for the end of the word?

Hi All,
Is today the first day after the end of the world- or the first day of the new world?
Whatever it is, I am still as financially challenged (no, lets rather call it financially embarassed) after my R30k engine replacement, as I was yesterday?
Regards,
Frans.

Re: Engine Balancing.

Hi Mark, Andre and Alvin, Thanks for the heads up on the balancing issue. I've just returned from RS now, where I went to buy a further new intake manifold gasket, some grey sealer and a bottle of benzine from Checkers. I will now proceed to clean off all the excess sealant and "spillages" everywher...

Re: Engine Balancing.

Hi All, I am glad to be able to report, that my balancing problem has been sorted in full. I happened to be refered to the guys at Performance Balancers here in Krugersdorp and Andre and Francois found the fault in seconds. My old 383 stroker damper with a counterweight was used (and shouldn't have ...

Re: Engine Balancing.

Hi Mark, Thanks for the reply. I'll buzz you tomorrow, if that's O.K? I would have already- but I had to rush down to the Cape to attend to some family business- but I also did this, under the proviso that I had to be back home with earth's end. I've been living in my same house now for the past 21 ...

Re: Engine Balancing.

Hi Mustang,
Thanks for your input. It really does make a lot of sense- and I also got a similar reply from Warren on PM, confirming what you said.
I now at least know where to start- and I will see if I can still have this matter resolved before year-end.
Kind regards,
Frans.

Re: Engine Balancing.

Hi Neresh, Thanks for the advice. With the engine being a brand new unit, certified to be "internally balanced" in the GM factory, don't you think the step of stripping the engine can / should be skipped? I suspect the clutch and flywheel set-up, or else the rotating assembly should be returned for ...
