Re: What is classic racing??

Tiaan - I like your idea. Like Hi Fi I think the idea of sharing pictures is great. I can also contribute here but I am sure there are many others who can also. What about your proposed Historc Gallery being along the lines of manufacturers and maybe period. I think once this gets going people will ...

Re: What is classic racing??

I agree, and this is what I was saying in one of my ealier postings. Somehow people must learn to appreciate that Historics are just that. I am not particularly interested in seeing an old car blasting around the track at unrealistic speeds simply because the owner has an investment in Fort Knox. We...

Re: Whereabouts of......

Just a final thought on the originality of the Little Chev CanAm.Looking at many pictures of the original car compared to the Corin / Lindenberg car today I notice the rear wheel arches on the original were "flared" whereas on Corin's car they are rivetted / bolted on. The rivets are clear to see. F...

Re: What is classic racing??

I am busy preparing an Anglia which will be period except for front disks which are allowed. Will be on the track next month.

Re: Whereabouts of......

At the risk of creating havoc considering all the hype about the Corin / Lindenberg CanAm!! Does anyone KNOW for a FACT that Lindenberg's ex Olthoff Capri Perana is the genuine real deal? I am not looking for any lawsuits here but just want the truth. I have often looked at that car and have just wo...

What is classic racing??

This is a topic that can be discussed for many months. There are two camps with regard to the way historics / classics are run. Peter du Toit of Zwartkops fame and Killarney. The problem here is that these two don't agree on many issues about what is period or not. My opinion is that a car should ad...

Re: What happened to the Cortina Peranas?

Who remembers Pat Sonnenshein's Ford Zodiac Mk111? What about Eddie Keizan's Ford 20M (Taunus) that was almost unbeatable at Kyalami?

Re: Whereabouts of......

If I remember the totalled van Blerk car may previously have been owned by John Amm. But was that BvR's car??

Re: Whereabouts of......

This is correct. In fact he peddles this car in the Fine Car races which seems a bit unfair. The pranged Mustang was virtually a Wesbank spec car with a Nascar engine - totally out of spec for classic racing.

Re: Whereabouts of......

You are correct about van Blerk racing the fastback Mustang. However he bought this from a guy from the UK after the Piper series in 2007 after he had totalled his notchback Mustang (van Rooyen's I believe) at Killarney. I initially was lead to understand that his Mustang was the Swanepoel car as th...
