Re: 68 Mustang Notchback (another one)

A lot has happened since I last posted in October. Since we changed the bonnet, we decided to fit a '64 mustang hoodscoop. I had to do some fettling to get it to fit perfectly. http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn104/jmvv/68%20Mustang/Scoop%203_zpsi1yudqxh.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn1...

Re: Chroming advice - 63 Impala 4 door

I am putting this up in the public forum, as I believe that there are a lot of guys who can benefit from this. For the dents in the trim, call Chris King, 082 920 9564. He is in Centurion and you can tell him that Johan from Cellsound has referred you. He worked magic on the rocker panels and rear w...

Re: 68 Mustang Notchback

Congratulations. I saw the car at Auto Nouveau and it looked beautiful. I am also busy with a 68 Coupe, and I have two questions. First, Were the rear corner extensions removed when the car was painted? I ask because you need to remove the corner extensions to bolt the corner trim on and then fit th...

Re: Grizz and Martin's Epic USA Chevy C10 Road trip - 2015

Oh, how I hate you right now..... First, where am I now going to get my daily travel log fix? Thank you for allowing me to travel with you guys from the (dis)comfort of my...

Re: Pontiac T/A poster

That record was set on the N3 near Villiers on the newly completed new highway. It was done on a closed road at an official event. If I remember correctly, the engine was a twin turbo 427 Chevy big block. I also seem to remember that the car suffered an engine fire when he attempted to better the re...

kavesh wrote:How did you cut the gasket? Very neat indeed.
Andrè used an Olfa trimming knife (the type with the break-off blade segments that you buy at Builders Warehouse)
The holes were punched using a suitably sized hole punch from the set in the shop.

Re: Tappet cover gasket material

I have contacted the local agent for Victor Reinz and was told that they can supply cork rubber gasket material to places like Alert Engine Parts. From Alert, I learned that they had 5mm thick cork rubber gasket material. I bought a sheet (R112.00) and my friend Andrè set about making us a new gaske...

Tappet cover gasket material

Marie, the '70 Rekord Coupe we built some years ago has developed a nasty oil leak from the tappet cover gasket. I am seriously looking for a top end overhaul gasket set for a 3.0 Opel Commodore engine, as that is what I had fitted in the car. None of my local suppliers ( Centparts, Alert Spares, Qu...

Re: 67 Mustang GTA 390 Fastback Restoration project begins

Brilliant work so far. My two cent's worth: Seeing as you have the door skins and quarter panels, replace the panels completely. I feel that the risk of running into issues with a "cut and paste" approach is far greater. Also, if you are going for a "Concourse" restoration, you need to have all pane...

Thanks for the brilliant travel log.

This is stuff that few of us will ever experience, which makes it all the more interesting.

Keep them coming...
