Hi Nick,
Any other avenues for Getrag bits? The one in my 333 will have to come out soon, the bearings may be obtainable off shelf but if synchros need changing, the 2K a pop ex BMW seems a bit steep.

Race differential theory
Well, I have been milling over this idea for a while now and would like to know what you guys think about it. What are the pros and cons of using an equal length driveshaft diff in a racecar? I have an M75LSD with the slightly offset pumpkin which has shafts of equal length. I can use either it or t...

Re: 3.8 4.1 TH350 gearboxes
Why don't the 230/250 cid boxes interchange? Are the 6 cyl bell patterns not identical? Maybe your existing setup is hybrid to start with? The 6 cylinder and V8 THM auto's are not identical that much I do know, I think some clutch packs have a greater number of plates for the increased toque loading...

Re: Gearbox Guru anyone??
OK, here are some more pics I took today. What I can tell without a doubt is it is a 5 speeder with a direct 1:1 5th and in the classic dogleg H gate, a la Getrag 265. Ford fine 23 spline in and 25 out. http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l112/Triplethree/Image143.jpg http://i94.photobucket.com/albums...

Re: Gearbox Guru anyone??
Thought that too at first but Getrag usually mark their gearboxes with their name, they are held together with more bolts, had a look at most of them from the BMW and Opel uses with no joy. Input spline the larger Ford fine type and no rear yolk, prop is splined.

Gearbox Guru anyone??

Re: Capri LS centre portion
Sure the Nomad is the same dimensionally? The style is the same cone clutch but I was certain the Nomad had the Model 68 case? MY mate had his Capri diff in bits and the cones looked a lot bigger to me? The Nomad was 4.1 ratio not?

Re: How many mechanics does it take to start a Chev?
The Mercury's got a Chevy engine transplant 'cos they realised they needed to make some real power :) and not just loosen wheelnuts:) Possibilities include: 1. The Engine must "want" to be started according to Freud. 2. The Ford mechanics haven't reached a level of intelligence to warrant the Chevy'...
