Special Jag for sale

Post by LeonardZeiler » Wed 25 Jul 2012, 22:45

Hi Folks,

My uncle's son bought a car and did not have an idea what he was buying, and in turn my uncle asked me to sell it for them.

Its an 82 XJS in very good condition body wise.

The catch is, good or bad is up to you, the vehicle was fitted with a Chev 350 and I think a TH350 box.

Car runs absolutely great.

This is the perfect toy for max HP as it has the right motor, oodles of space with a sports suspension, but is insanly comfortable. I recently did about 300 km's in two days with the motor being flawless.

Some good
Chev 350
Body is complete and in very good shape, tiny bit of rust and one or two battle scars, but honestly its in decent shape.
Has a modern airconditioner conversion on it that was professionaly done
Car is fully licensed with no fees behind
Motor runs like absolute silk, its stock standard and in really good health.
Brakes are fantastic

Some Bad
Chev 350
Car has some electrical gremlins, but its mainly on the lighting system, with no computers so an easy fix
Needs a new battery (I will supply)
Window reg is busted (I should be able to fix this as well)

I am not too sure what the asking price for this should be, but I know what the motor and box on its own is worth.

I am thinking around 30k neg ?

Not sure about RSA: but; here in the USA; swapping a Chevy V8 into a Jaguar XJ6/S series tends to increase the value because by today's standards, the electrical systems are quite simple to deal with. Most of the above model Jags with their original XK engines/BW transmissions had overheating issues, shaky tranny's, finicky fuel and ignition systems, etc.

Sounds almost too good to be true. If you say he had no idea what he was buying, what should he have bought? I am in the used car trade, so maybe I can help put him in a car he would rather have?

That is one seriously nice car - Guys, I drove a XJS for a client once - It's very comfortable and drives very nice!!

Well with a 350 Chevy motor 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O

You cannot get better than that..........this should be scooped up quickly.

Value wise: R35000-00 at least with the gremlins fixed.

I would take it, but bought the 230e and in love with it now.....

Thanks guys,

Yea I also like thing, and have been putting off the for sale post for about 2 weeks.

My problem is that I own 5 cars already, I cant even finish the trans-am now I want another toy.

In terms of price, I recon for 35, and I will sort out the electrical gremlins, service the thing, and fix up the minor attention it needs on the body, joy's of owning a panel shop :)

The car is available for viewing at my shop opposite east rand mall

My cell number is 082 803 3877

If your looking for a sunday cruiser, do not miss this one :)

R35K is very good value.

XJS are increasing in value in the UK. Here most of them have been killed by rust from the salt on the road.

There was one that had a bit of burn here, it ended up with a 350 in it.
