In Randburg there is a very good Cobra man by the name of Paul de Klerk, owner of "The Snake Pit". Paul is the technical backup for Backdraft Racing in Johannesburg, supporting all the sales and service of Cobras for Hamptons, the Jhb sales outlet for Backdraft. Paul builds, services, repairs, upgrades, sells and trades in Cobras of all kinds. Paul also specialises in maintenance of American muscle cars, (To give you and idea, I was in his shop about a week ago and he had 9 Mustangs in there for different work from total rebuilds to gearbox replacements, minor body work, etc.) I recognise that you are in Cape Town but perhaps he can assist, give him a call: 083 3299 263, his mail address is: paul@snakepit.co.za
I have no financial interest in Paul's business but have ended being a friend of his just due to my interest in Cobras and muscle cars, Good Luck!

Hi Guys - I recently decided to buy my first Cobra - Please help - What do you think of this one (Bit expensive compared to what I've seen already!) Any advise for a first time buyer?

Before you commit, I am helping to sell a HiTech Superformance model with a 351 Ford racing motor out of an estate. It is currently with Gary Swan, who Greg Erasmus referred me to, for a complete service as the car has been standing for a few years. Only has 10 000kms on it, albeit a 1995 model. Will probably be looking for a similar price. Dont know much about the cars myself, but have been told the HiTech cars are better than the Backdraft ones?

Have also looked at many Cobra's. It is important who build it and what parts were used, are they easy to find if you need to replace. Then what are you going to do with it, are you going to fiddle?

For me following was important:
1) Can I easily upgrade. Brakes, suspension & diff especially.
2) Cobra must have Ford engine.
3) How close to original does it look. Body, cockpit & wheels.
4) I wanted 427 motor.

In the end you must like it, there are only few mad people that will purchase one for what you put in. I absolutely love mine.
