This for the benefit of all other members, I think this poster is a troll who has logged on here in order to create a reaction, clearly this is someone who merely wishes to cause an argument. He lives in Durban and wantsa race car.....to race where exactly.

I am considering deleting this users account but would like comment from other members. I have my suspicions regarding this poster.....

Wow, I really didn't expect this kind of reaction, and an online arguement . . I don't think so. In answer to some questions raised, I have just moved to Durban and in 6 weeks shall be posted to cape town. I have no interest in butchering a restored classic but should someone have an already converted race car in any condition I would be interested.

I hope this clears what seems to be a rather large misunderstanding.

Thanks for the clarification! Just seemed to me like you were chasing orginal restored cas. Honestly you are unlikely to find either of these for sale as race cars, there was a Can Am replica on Gumtree and I would suggest you have a look at that.

Chill out guys. Be nice. Do your research first.

2 minutes in Google http://www.google.co.uk/#q=tom+seckel+hscc will tell ypu that Tom Seckel is (was) a bona fide entrant in HSCC in the UK.

Nothing in Tom's posts indicates any trolling.

The man aparently wants to race a big V8 and clearly wants to race the genuine article, not a replica. Why shouldn't he? One of Kilarney's great cars is Anton's Can Am - when he first built it out of a road car some agreed, some diagreed - now everyone loves to see it on the track - part of Anton's car's appeal is that it is the real deal, not a hotrod like some of the other 'Can Ams' on ZA circuits.

A little bit of reading of the forum by the poster in question may have lead to him wording his posts differently, this blase attitude of stripping yet another genuine car into a racer was what irritated me. Lets not use Antons car as an example, his car began its competition life over 10 years and ago and arguably these cars had a slightly lower profile then than they do now, to give you an ida back in 2001 I could have bought a totally orginal Can Am for R40k, the owner battled to sell it for 6 months.

The opening poster is entitled to do what he wishes but from my side I will provide no assistance whatsoever as personally in 2010 I think taking a good well restored car and stripping it for racing is just ridiculous. My mind would be changed if it were a basket case car to begin with but how many Can Ams and Perana are that that are so far gone all they can be used for is a race car.

I still think its posssible to build a replica of either the Perana that if one does ones homework will look and go totally like an original, Chris's Perana being a good example of this.

If he wants to spend R300k plus on a genuine Can Am and then strip it for racing well thats all good, its his money and his car but that doesnt mean enthusiasts like me cant frown on it.

Mostly off topic but we are getting a decent circuit in Durban...
That's how I roll. Down the hill 'cause the car won't start and the brakes don't work.
