Ceres is about hour and half from Cape Town.
once in Ceres, you turn off the main road in town an about 10kms up the road lies Gydo pass.
very steep, loads of twists and turns and very fast straights!

on the site it says: "The King of the Mountain event will be taking place 28 - 30 November 2008."

It still happens but if you want to go and watch it on the pass you have to book and a bus takes you up. Quite pricey, if I remember R200 last year. I don't think they allow any spectator cars on the pass.
