Launch of SA Hotrods
Re: Launch of SA Hotrods
Ja..many thanks for the pics Wally.
Very happy to see the 2 Fords as well, sure there were many many cars, and yet you chose to post some big Ford pics. You're my hero Wally.
Love that 57 Ford Custom.

I wasn't there but maybe a similar problem to the open classic day at Killarney, lack of interest, lack of advertising, maybe not getting clubs involved?

Re: Launch of SA Hotrods
Seems to me that Killarney has a fairly big issue in the promotions side.
Have you ever seen a poster or an ad, or read about in the papers, or heard something on the radio or TV for Killarney events? I haven't. I'm not here all the time, so maybe my view is not correct, but it seems like there is no promotion at all.
Killarney does not even email WPMC members (I'm one) when something is on. I am also a member of Zwartkops (Zoc) as well, and from Z we get emails about upcoming events.

Re: Launch of SA Hotrods
My personal view is that Killarney has ALWAYS had a promotional problem. And I am talking for many, many years now.
They have this fantastic facility which I feel they do not "sell". They do not exactly encourage people to attend events, nor to get involved in the sport.
And I agree with the lack of communication. E-mailing is the norm nowdays, it is simple, quick, cheap and can reach volumes of people. Why is this not used extensively? I think their web site also needs some new ideas. It is cluttered, not updated, has broken links and is not very user friendly. This is what people see when they hit the site.
Look at the Fine Cars page - very, very poor!

I agree. This has been a problem/complaint for many, many years. Can you believe that I actually race and wasn't on their mailing list until I moaned, so imagine the poor member who just loves to go and watch.

The organisers apparantly contacted all the clubs, think there is deeper issues which I'd not go into on the forum..
