Looking forward to seeing the Sierra in Fine Cars. I'm hoping to run the Can Am on 18 May in Classics, failing which I will be running my MG GTB V8 in Fines. Could be fun

Another v8,that's great. A lightweight mg with v8 power should be a potent track car. If my count is correct there should now be five v8 powered cars running on 18 may:
2x sunbeam tigers
gunter's chevy
my xr8
your mg v8
If Alvin joins us that will be six v8's on the starting grid.I can almost hear that roar through the gears into turn one.I've entered my granada perana under the same number so if there are any issues with the xr8 at least i can still race.
See you there.

Cheers
Colin

P.S. Can you recommend a good place to get a rollcage fitted.

Colin, is that the yellow Granada raced by a guy called Neethling many years ago? Have you got pictures?

I bought the car from Clive Corder who also races the red lola t70 in sports cars.He did have somebody else driving the car though,so it could have been Neethling.I have had this car up for sale for some time now with no takers at R55 000 so rather than give it away i've decided to keep it and do some upgrades. It has been entered as a backup for my xr8.

ive been eyeballing the coupe for almost 3 months now.

price doesnt seem to drop. - assuming you might have a keyboard error

could you perhaps put up more pix of the car. how easy or hard would it be to take back to road version. saw the cage is a bolt in. and everything is possible.
how "neat" is the car in road form, not seen as a race car

Hi Flouwford

This car could use some tidying for road use.In my opinion it would be a waste though because a lot of work has gone into stiffening the suspension and upgrading the brakes. It no longer drives like a granada at all.I felt that my price was fair for a genuine perana, especially a manual.Apparently i was wrong so now i'll tidy it up and use it on the track for a while.

Cheers

I saw your ad and was tempted. Three problems, a) no garaging available b) fuel for racing would be huge c) my wife would go mad ;)

Morning. The xr8 is finally ready so we took it to killarney for a practice session yesterday. It goes well and sounds mean but there are serious brake and cooling issues.I get deep into fifth gear down the back straight but when i touch the brakes the back end locks up and i go sliding.Nearly wet myself a few times and i have new respect for the guys who do this kind of racing. The car has lots of potential though because it eats up the straights and i reckon it will be a decent package once the brakes are sorted.I'll be getting a bigger radiator today and hopefully better brakes before the next practice. We made a short video but for some reason i can't seem to upload it here. Will keep you posted on the progress.

Cheers
