Im looking at a chev firenza, which the owner claims to be a Canam. I realize only 100 were built, hence a lot of fakes around.
Can you guys assist me in verifying the authenticity of the vehicle by telling me what to look for?
The car is currently a shell with parts (stripped) for rebuild. Where do I look for tags/stamps on vehicle, and what were the engine/chassis/VIN numbers (or where can I find a database)?
Any help from the people that have the knowledge will be much appreciated. Feel free to PM me, or post on here.
Thanks
Canam
Re: Canam
I suggest you talk to someone like Lino....it is never a good idea to post exactly what to look for on any forum, unfortunately there are a bunch of skelms out there and they 'learn' off knowledgable guys who post free info and then just build a better fake to con the next guy.
You can give me a call tomorrow on 083 3258825 , i know a little bit about Can am's (about 1% of Lino!) and if you like we can talk while i am at my Can am to confirm a few 'must have' signs.

Re: Canam
be very careful, many ppl claim to own genuine canams, when in fact there are only a handful of genuine ones left in existence, probably around 15?

Re: Canam
If I buy a canam, I would probably buy it, expecting it to be a good replica, and paying for it what you would pay for a good replica, as the chances of finding a real one is very very slim.

Re: Canam
Agree that its probably not a good idea to go into specifics on whats an orginal and whats not but suffice to say if it doesnt have a 302 and a 4 speed Munchie, it aint a Can Am....thats being very broad I know....
My advice would be to look at the car and to expect a replica...
