Thanks.

I can stay with Stuart in the corners but his exit speed and the cars edge on performance help him pull away. :D

I will be working on that side of things

Hi Gavin!
I'm glad to see the Rover on the track. They just don't exist anymore. I have a fairly standard roadgoing VDP that I'm restoring. Gunter Drotschie has the original Paddy O'Sullivan Vitesse here in Cape Town. Says he won't be racing it but will take it out on the track for show.
Keep up the good work!

Hi Rod

Nice to hear you have a Rover VDP, if you need parts from the UK let me know. there is a very nice 2 owner car for sale in Natal, wish I had the funds to buy it.

Gunther needs to get The ex O'Sullivan Rover on track, was an awesome car in its day. I know the car well and had it offered to me just before it was completely restored, that was in 2003. should have taken it then

I would love to see that car on track even if it is for a demo run or as a pace car in Historics

Cheers

That 2 owner car in Natal..when last did you see it? Because just over 2 years ago I bought my one in Richmond KZN....2 owner as well. Black auto. Quite neat, but I'm working on it nevertheless because it wasn't pristine. Motor's done, had some work done on the electrics, front suspension I'm gathering the bits, and then I need to get front shocks made! Can't find them anywhere and UK imports are R3700. I received my catalogue from Rimmer Bros last week. If you have any contacts or connections for me please share. You wouldn't happen to have some front shocks lying around?? I also need a windscreen and bonnet badge (30 years of sun has now taken it's toll). Once I have those then I'll have the body resprayed. No major rust fortunately.

Hi Rod
Apologies for late reply

Nice to hear your car is coming along. the blue car in Natal was advertised again I see with lots of spares from Rimmers, guy is asking R39k so it must be a good one.

Windscreen unfortunately UK only, have not found any here for a long time.

Shocks I brought in from GAZ in the UK, standard fitment inserts but adjustable and std fitment rear but adjustable, awesome shocks but just expensive unfortunately.

I brought in a pair of front TCA's a few months ago from Rimmers, just about all my parts come from them. Bonnet badge is now very scarce, will keep an eye out for one as I am always looking for Rovers locally, don't know where all of them have gone

Hey Gavin
I'm organising a badge from a guy in the UK for +/- R400 inc postage. I joined a FB SD1 group. Some great guys and cars on the site.
Also found a guy in Paarl over the weekend who has loads of spares here. Lots of body parts and other odds n sods so if you're looking for anything give me a shout or I'll send you his number. He appears to have a windscreen for me too! Shocks I'm probably going to have made up by GT suspensions here +- R2200 for the pair. I checked out the blue VDP in DBN, doesn't look all that spectacular to be honest. I got mine for R16k and we drove it home to CT.

Cheers for now

Aaaarrrgggghhhh!! iemand wil gemoer word BUT you'll be pleased to know it has been replaced. Found 2 locks on some scrapped cars and took both just in case. She desperately needs a respray as the paint is thinning badly. Planned for the new year.

Hi Rod

Car looks good.

you must register with www.roversd1club.net

Awsome web forum in the UK, they are featuring my car in their 2014 calendar. you should see some of the restorations and builds of Rover SD1's over there amazing to say the least.

Lots of info on the Rally cars and the Group A Rover's etc. I have had a lot of advice from members that race and build cars on how to set up the Rovers suspension etc,

Cheers

Gavin
