Manufacturers Challenge Jag V8, Kyalami 1979.
I even tried getting a program from a contact overseas to get this name.
Don't let this challenge die, I am not sleeping well!!

You sure that Jag was a V8 ? Not a V12 maybe as I think the manufacturer's had to stick to their own brand motors.
I was trying to think who raced the Volvo 164 but that was mostly in the Star Production cars, thanks Henry for reminding. Was Fannie Els.

I think you are right. I was thinking of a bored out Rover V8, still within the Leyland family.
Re: Mike Moore Jag XJ6....
I forgot about the Leyland V8 ! Or Oldsmobile was'nt it ? I reckon they would'nt have gone that route as I would'nt be surprised if the 4.2 straight six can push out more than those old 3500's at the time.

Weight may have had something to with it - a 3500 V8 (alu block remember) must weigh much less that the Jag motor.

Okay so after some expert sleuthing, I now have an answer to this question. Seeing as it is the hot topic on this forum at present maybe some financial reward should be forthcoming first. What about an auction for the info? Let's start at say R1000. And maybe something for being able to view the picture say R100 and then if you want to use it in your collections (seeing that it is copywrited) maybe this can be negotiated.
Just thought that seeing everyone wants to make a buck, I'll jump on the gravy train as well!

Hmmm, I was hoping there would be more interest in
this question?
The driver of the Jaguar pictured above was Piet Bredenhann, entered by Daytona Sigma in class B # 26.

That Jag was a V8. I saw it in 1979 at the Grand Prix

Very interesting Jag. It looks like the 1979 one. I just mailed him to find out.
