I wish we could find a good picture of that 164. As far as I remember the car was quite well sorted out.

I remember the car, I certainly don't remember the results. This was a Star car that definately wasn't a class winner.

That 164 raced here a few times. I remember a Jhb Volvo racing here in a 3 hour in the 80s. It was driven by Fanie Els and Hans Kruger. But I suspect it was a 144. I have a picture of the car at home that my brother took.

Memory is not so hot any more but the same guys who raced the 144 later upgraded to the 164.

Got some nice pictures at home of Fienie Tolken driving the Droomers 144 at Kleinplasie in Worcester. Anybody remember it?

I'm sure I saw that 164 late 70's at Killarney possibly in the 80's too. I may even have photo's of it as I think it raced also round about the time that Datsun Laurel raced here which became red. Was it Hawkins that had that Laurel ? Way to check is run through the archive, magazines, old race programmes.

The 144 I remember running locally at Killarney.

Jip Mr. Hawkins raced the Laurel.... one thing I remember about the Laurel was when he hit, if my memory is correct the pitwall at Kyalami just after the start

I though my memory was not that bad when I suggested that the name Kruger was associated with the 164

I remember it racing once at Killarney, it may have been red.

The local 144 was driven for a couple of years by Piet van Niekerk against guys like Clarry Taylor, Dennis Joubert, Brian Ferreira, Robin Borden, Tommy Gash, Bob Alsop, etc
