All of this Classic car talk is really starting to jog the old memory I finally remembered Malcolm was involved with this car if I recall they wanted some mods done to the flywheel a few years back but I could not help as I was busy well another piece of the puzzle comes together I think Malcolm owned the car at one stage as well

I remember Adrian Pheiffer Motors well, in Main Road Mowbray. I can remember when Pheiffer wheel spun the APM out of the pit lane, the whole thing looked like it was going to shake apart.
Re: Whereabouts of......
You could be right Warren I think Malcom had a share in it at the time when I first saw it after all those years.
At the back of Adrian Pheifers garage there was also a big driving simulator effort which must have been early days such technology. I used to hop up onto this thing and turn the steering wheel and make car sounds. When I recall these things then it sort of makes sense how come I ended up an enthiusiast. But this is not out of reach of any kid it's up to you to make it happen.
This is why it may seem I get a bit hardegat at times or seem contraversial. The short-fuse Latin trait is one thing about us, but what I can't handle is ignorance. Or "conveniant" ignorance. There is no excuse for that anymore. Just a matter of hanging out on this forum if you need to know anything about something. If you don't agree with what you hear discuss it until you agree to dissagree and by then you would have probably learnt other things you did'nt know too.

Re: Whereabouts of......
All said and done, has anyone got any info on Peter Bolton's cars?
Re: Whereabouts of......
The APM now belongs to a U K gentleman. The guy is a commercial pilot. The car is still in S A and is prepared in George by Les Johnson. The owner brought a fresh Ford Twincam engine from the U K when he flew out for the races last year.
He got Jess Hugget to drive the car last year and an excellent job he did.
Hopefully Jess will drive the car again this year.
Cheers

Re: Whereabouts of......
In an earlier posting I raised the question of the origins of Derick van Blerk's half written off racing Mustang notchback.
I asked if anyone knew the history of this car and I suggested that it may previously have been owned and raced by John Amm. The suggestion was that it is Basil van Rooyen's old car. I do know that Fred Cowell bought the BvR Mustang and raced it for a couple of years before it disappeared. BvR won the SA Saloon Car Championship in 1966 and 1967 with this car and yet somehow no one is clear as to its whereabouts.
Has anyone managed to glean more info on this? I believe this car is more important than the mystery of the CanAm Chev so heavily discussed.
My uncle worked for Basil at Superformance during this period and also when he moved into Alfas and the F1 McLaren M7c.
SOMEONE must know this story!

Hi KR
Your facts are 100% correct.
BvR won the championship in the car in 1966 and 1967. The car was sold to Fred Cowell who raced it in 1968 and 1969. Therafter the car's whereabouts is a mistery until it reappeared at Killarney some years ago under the ownership of John Amm.
The car by then looked a bit rough and ready but was very much in the same spec as originally raced in the Superformance days. It was then acquired bu Derek van Blerk who changed it into the hotrod it was at the end of it's life.
I do believe DvB has still got the car and will be restoring it due to the historic value .
The main structure of the car actually stood up to the impact quite well and the car is restoreable given enough money and effort.
