Re: Meissner car ???
Lovely picture of Bob Olthoff in the Ford sponsored Fairlane. This car only raced in a few races and never really got sorted out as one would expect from Olthoff. Also I think this was the last year of the SA Saloon Car Champ series.
Note the Fiat Abarth of Errol Shearsby at the back that raced in the 1000cc class. The Alfa on the left was Arnold Chatz and the Anglia behind it may be Brian von Hage. It is not Briggs as he did not have a white roof.

Re: Meissner car ???
That very Fairlane's bonnet (damaged) was hanging in Fat Arnie's (Arnold Honnibal - CSL replica BMW) pub just outside Kyalami gate. reason I know that is that the great man himself pointed it out to us one evening we were there on a Friday night before the next days races at Kyalami. Aas was the helmet and some others he donated plus a big poster of Z181 just above the entrance as you left the pub.
Anybody been to Fat Arnie's ? Believe the pub is not there anymore. That was about 1996 just before Bob emigrated. In fact it was the last weekend that his son Dennis raced in ZA (Mustang) as he left first to set up in North Carolina.

This is very interesting, firstly a gem of a picture! But it sure looks like this car was in Meissner colours and why? Yes it was Ford sponsored but it was prepared by Olthoff not Meissner, part of a Ford/Meissner marketing campaign perhaps?
As mentioned by others it seemed this car didnt race for very long, it was supposed to be a replacement for the Galaxie as far as I understand?

Re: Meissner car ???
Actualy those were not Meissner colours they were colours used by Ford backed cars. As I remember they were Gough's Escort, Clarry Taylor's Meissner prepared Escort, Briggs' Anglia, Olthoff's Fairlane and later Keizan's Ford 20M. The colour are assocaiated with Gough's famous Escort, but they also changed in later life.
