Lots of Fords found to be exported

Post by Boxy MS33 » Thu 26 Jun 2014, 04:56

I had a contact from a South African whom is now living in Australia who told me he has found 20 Fairmont GT's and Bakkie's and 2x 40 foot containers full of parts in South Africa and was trying to get me to be involved in buying and selling them as I know lots of people and know the cars..

My answer to that of course was " NOT INTERESTED"

I guess it's hard to ask if anyone has heard of this collection as if they had they would of been exported by now.

The guy would not how ever give me any VIN numbers..... Strange... I know the sellers father in law very well whom is an honest guy. By the way the guy trying to buy the cars is a ex SA policeman.

Hi Boxy that is interesting!
Keep us posted please.
I know I had a call from a person selling his V8 Ranchero to New Zealand.
Dave from Perana Cars also bought my Ranchero and GT for New Zealand many years back.
Rassie.

To be honest if they just going to rot in some okes garden somewhere then they better off in Australia where the spares are available to keep them going ....

I know English Fords, especially Escorts have been shipped to the UK by the truck load over the years.

Not about this guy the story you refer to is a completely different person whom imported a large shipment of Fairmont GT into Perth Australia around 2007.
But this " new " lot is very much larger.

I don't think they have 20 or 30 ford GTs waiting for export ... One of us would have heard about so many cars in one place .... Where did they find 30 original or restored ford fairmont gt's ? Maybe some parts cars that are fckd anyway but not 30 running driving ones ....

I agree with you someone must know something but having said that South Africa is a big place.
He seemed pretty confident about them and described them quite easily. But If true I'm wandering why they have not been purchased!

There's a few GT's at Warrens place that's leaving to OZ... I counted 10 cars about 3 weeks ago. Also 2 SS's, a gold Capri Perana, a Monaro & I think 2 utes. I'm sure the GT spares that was there could easily fill a few containers. I believe all the cars & spares went to one buyer. I took pics but I have to clear with Warren before I post them up. All the GT cars were in running order except his beige personal one. If these are the cars then its legit.
