After market aircon

Post by Burnthosetyres » Thu 12 Jan 2012, 15:46

Durban temperatures are crazy, has anyone put Aircon into older cars? I got a quote for my 69 Camaro was quoted on parts, without fitment for R15000 is it worth it?

If you've driven in a car without aircon in this heat, R15 000 is a bargain.

Its torture in a car without aircon.

If you decide to do it, please give us feedback

Durban was 33 degrees the last 2 weeks, and add the discomfort index of around 85 to 93% it equates to 40 od degrees. That's just it, you en up not using / driving the cars without Aircon!

I think you should get a local Aircon and fitted for about R8000. Depends on how much installation is required. Looks like I need to do some window shopping   The Malibu has nothing in and the Kommando has a heater & Fan. So there should be a price difference!!!

With the new type of gas can the old aircon units still work.

Hi Johann,
Thinking of putting back the Mustang a/c unit. Its the original compressor but very bulky. Wonder if i should'nt go for something modern and compact. What do you guys think?
