It is for a 305. I did not realize these things are so hard to find.

I got another housing !!! Yippeee. Found one aftermarket type ones at US Connection.

Last night I sorted / cleaned the alternator wanted to do more but got home late after work. Think I should start posting some pictures.......

Hahahahaha so I have been reading a lot of posts on this forum, seems like I would offend a few guys here to have a Chevy motor in a CJ5. Sorry to those :D I got it that way as it was generally in good nick, it gets worse........ the body is fibre glass...... as I understand the steel one was really badly rusted. The chassy was kept, and the re-build was done around what was available. Dispite the carb it ran ok with no smoking at all. The 305, I think, will stay in for a while (hopefully).

Anyway thanks for the input thus far.

Aaarrrrgggg I did a stupid thing today.......... With all the cleaning and swearing at all the rust and dirt I am stripping it down to eventually respray the motor........ So what did I do........ I went and pull the distributor out without marking any spot.......... Sh1t.... I can kick myself.......

Checking the distributor (HEI) I saw the three wires' plastic insulation is breaking up, can this be unplugged and buy new ones or can new ones be soldered in?

Got the timing right again. No big deal what I thaught hahahaha :D . Opened / took the inlet manifold off and think I may have an issue. On the left head in the middle between the inlet port there is an exhaust port? Some of the metal sheared away and may leak into the block. I reckon I can fix with pratley steel and the new gasket will seal but I do not want to spend too much on fixing? If I must spend money then I may as well look for a 350 to fit to the 350 turbo box. Would you say differently?
