Introduction – JP 64’ Chevelle

Post by ChevelleJP » Fri 14 Feb 2014, 15:44

Hi Everyone.

I believe newly registered members require an introduction?

Well I’m Jp Du Preez residing in JHB north. I’m the proud owner of a 1964 Chevy Chevelle (2 door pillarless) and she is not for sale:!:

I’ve owned the car for approx 2 yrs now and I’ve only really fiddled around with her mechanically. Brakes (cylinders, pads, flex hoses, drum skim, master cylinder, slave cylinder), alternator, a few rubbers, taillight lenses, taillight wiring harness, that kinda thing…

I’m keen on discussing what her value might be and what it would cost to respray her.

Give me a hit if you have some ideas on the cost to respray these cars?

Hang on, saw this in a cartoon, I think I can pull it off.

Welcome JP! Very nice car you have  . Why re-spray, she looks gorgeous as is?

If anyone offers to do a re-spray for less than R7000, walk away.....Unfortunately the rule of "You get what you pay for" applies. One of the other addicts will point you in the right direction.

Like your 64 Chevelle! I had the R/H 65 Malibu from GMSA. It has disappeared from the face of the earth!
If you need technical data, just let me know, I can possibly supply free data on the 64/65 Chevrolet.

Welcome JP :)

Ters.......I think even at 15k it's cheap bud.
Easy 20k to 25k (maybe even more) for a panel shop type/style finish......and that's NOT from "Gooooooooogle" bru...... ;) ;)

Cheers.....Robbie.

Welcome JP, very desirable ride you have there! I have a '66 pillarless 4-door Malibu. Mister Robbinator seems to be going on family & friends rates  okay R7k or less will get your car painted in PVA blue with a roller brush  I've seen it before & it aint pretty. Up to R25k will get you a respray including inside the doors & lids but for that price it will just be a patch up with a pro finish-typically for selling a car. Proper strip down & re-apply all the fillers, paint stipping or any soda/media blasting type restoration will range from R50k-R150k depending on what's under the layers of Bondo....

Cheers
