CAPRI PERANA - HELP!!!!!

Post by kiwicapri » Mon 02 May 2016, 12:58

hope i have posted this in the correct place.

Hi all. My diff was recently stolen from my lock up. Gutted to say the least as i've been waiting a long time to get stuck into what will be a very long restoration process. Lots of other very rare parts also went missing but i need the diff to get this rolling. This is a call out to all to see if anyone may have a complete "SA" Capri Perana V8 diff, or Diff housing (i have all the other parts except the axels which i can get made). Anyone, who can help, please do not hesitate in contacting me. Thank you.

I have spent the better part of 8 years looking on and off for a spare diff for my car.

This is not going to be easy to find at all.

Just out of curiosity, how does the diff of the Granada Perana compare?

Granada Perana has a completely different suspension set up, independent set up versus leaf springs on the Capri.

The Mk3 to Mk5 Cortina's also did not have leaf sprung axles.

Has anyone ever measure the crown wheel of a Capri Perana or Granada Perana differential?
Since it is a Borg Warner unit one should be able to replicate it.

Member Peranaman, might be a good source of info on this...

Hi, my Perana, was not a true BG car. The axle was a genuine SA built M75. It had 2.92 ratio CWP. I later changed the ratio to 3.23 and added an LSD.
I got all the gears, bearings, LSD from Australia. The interchangeable parts all came from Falcon, Fairmont and Fairlane rear axles.
I have a set of good 3.45 gears to suit the M75 axle.

If it helps I can let you know my contacts in Oz. Let me know. Cheers Chris

Perhaps I'm wrong but I've noticed that the diff ratio on the Perana is the same as on the Can-Am's diff.

The diff fitted to the Can-Am is also a Borg Warner with ratio 2.92:1 and seemingly came from the Chevy Nomad.

Can anybody shed some light on this........
