Car Collections/Museums in SA

Post by IndianaJones » Mon 09 Jun 2014, 08:44

Hi guys
I thought we could do a thread on Automotive or related Collections/Museums within South Africa. Not sure if this is the correct section for it, but the Admins could make it a sticky if they feel it has merit.
Collections forum members may want to visit when traveling in that area, be it car, motorcycle, truck, tractor, toys, vintage signs, tools, etc.

If I made an error, or any of these collections have since closed down or been auctioned off, please tell.
Please share the collections you know of, post photo's or details about them if possible.

One collection I'm curious about, is the Nick Hoederdos family / Kleinjukskei Museum cars, it has been reported that the museum is closed down, but what happened to the families' cars?

The Greyvenstein Car Museum has closed down years ago. Last time I was at the museum was a week before the cars was loaded to go to Franschhoek.

Some cars are with Rudolph in Plettenbergbay. The others have was absorbed into the Franschhoek motormuseum.

Some cars was exported like the Le Mans Alfa Romeo.

The history and restoration can be viewed at this site:

Louis Coetzer's museum is something to see. Half the collecton is Mercedes-Benz. The rest are American cars from post war to the late 70's. Lots of nice goodies there.
1961 Alfa Giulietta Sprint
1971 Fiat 124 BC Coupe
1975 Fiat 132 GLS
