To the moon and back

Post by buggyfan » Thu 07 Jul 2016, 21:04

Back in the 80s Opel did endurance testing with an Opel Rekord travelling a distance equal to the moon and back without any major breakdown .

I had a few and the best was the one with a V8 Chevy engine and 5- speed.
Very nice cars and solid.

That Moon Mission from Delta, was exactly the reason why I bought my 89 Rekord 2.0 GLE for the princely sum of R39999.

What a brilliant car. I drove it for 12 years to about 350k km with only scheduled maintenance expenses.

Hi buggyfan. I'm trying to find some more information on the Moon Mission, other than just

Delta's "Moon Mission" blasts off - two South African built Opel Rekords set out to cover distance between earth and moon - 376 024 kilometres in Namibia
Cars then set world record of 500 000 kilometres

and some photographs, promo material, etc. Where did you take these photographs?

I'm pretty sure I had some info on it, but don't know where it would be stored now. I'm starting a blog site for Spotty, my '89 Opel Rekord 2.0i GLE, and would like to do an article on this and would like as much information as possible, chat with people who were involved, etc.
