hey guys

Post by bmwmaniac » Sat 06 Jun 2015, 07:41

Good day guys and dolls, i'm sure there are some petrol head dolls on here.

I am Edwin, and I am a car-holic. A addict yes. every addict has his favourite and mine in my old faithful E30
however, anything car related an I am game.

I do like old v8's and such but don't have much exposure there anymore. I am very active now amoung care that are just leaving warranty and/or maintainance contract.

Cheers
Edwin

Welcome to my fellow moderator from another motoring forum

Am happy to see that you've checked in here, Edwin...you will enjoy being surrounded by a rather unique bunch of knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful petrol nuts!

Your knowledge of more modern cars will come in handy here, as all of us have more modern cars that give trouble too :D

modern cars are really starting to piss me off, last night I got home after 7pm, caus we were battling to load a 2006 sl500 onto a flatbed truck, in the middle of nowhere with a few oem hand tools, no jack. the car just dies and coasted to a halt, and was put in park. when we got there it was stone dead and wouldn't even release the park lock.

Welcome Edwin

I'm sure there will be plenty asking questions on newer vehicles that is out of warranty.

Currently I have 2 cars of which 1 is 99% stock, and the e30 which was a daily that became a lifetime project.

The toyota.
1994 corolla 160i with currently 95000km genuine on the clock, daily for now stock standard besides runx wheels
195/50/15 tyres. double din dvd unit with satnav and reverse cam (for the benefit of the SO). and 150 micron llumar smash and grab.

The e30
now this thing is not std at all, and very much a mobile test bench for all kinds of development
it started as a 427000km 320i 1990.
std motor only opened for head work due to timing belt failure, bottom end completely untouched
std ecu
smt6 piggyback
merc e320 v6 maf sensor
325i intake
325i throttle body
325i injectors and fuel rail
adjustable FPR with guage
280 degree high lift cam with 17mm oversize eccentics (for valve adjustment)

325is front springs, spring pads removed
rear std springs with pads removed
e36 front control arms, with m3 solid offset control arm bushes
17" x7 mini replica wheels custom painted with 205/40/17 achilles atr sport tyres
20mm spacers rear and 15mm front
e36 5 speed gearbox
3.73ls diff

thats all I can think of for now.

Engine needs to be rebuild sometime soon, as its starting to smoke and the compression is low.
have yet to decide what direction to take the build. would like to keep the engine block numbers matching, as I am the second owned, previous owner owning it from now, an old toppie. it still has the original rear numberplate as fitted when new.

will look for pics and put a few up aswell.
