Sayin Hi
Hi Guys
Just saying hi
Alwyas been dreaming of owning a muscle car.
I got an El Camino from someone who owed me a few bucks.
It's a 4.1 6 cylinder.
I want to put in a 350 Chevy, and T400 'box.
Hopefully I can get some info from you guys.
Will post a pic for you guys to help me identify which year model it is.

Re: Sayin Hi
Here is the pic of the Elky.
What year model is this?
I know they originally had single head lights. Might go back the singles if I can get the parts.

Re: Sayin Hi
Hi Dreamer, welcome to the forum.
Looks like your dream has come true.
That Elky looks very nice, plenty of potential. Sorry I don't know much about them but there are plenty of guys here that do.
Have fun with it.
Cheers

Welcome to the Forum.
I would take a guess and say that is a 75, but it is only a guess.. I don't know enough to make a definite call.

Re: Sayin Hi
Thanks guys.
Jip, dream come true, but it's gonna cost big $$$ to get it where I want it. And now I am thinking 454....
But I guess I'll settle for a good 350.....
I see a '58 Apache in my future as well. But more about that later.
I live near Klerksdorp, NW.
Any recommendations on whom to speak for a 350 Chevy, and TH400 'box?

I'm still undecided on the headlights. 65% towards single headlights. But I'll let you know when I made my desicion.Elcamino wrote:74/75 not much differance between the 2 models.

Welcome to the forum dreamer....
Good looking "bakkie" you have there....
I would keep that Deville front if i were you, the single headlamp ones are very common.....and please please dont put a jag suspension on that ute... plenty of places that can get her to handle properly. you have discs upfront, power steering not a problem.... parts are inter-changeble with constantia, caprice, deville, rekord, commodore & senator. dont scratch there... please.
Welcome again....
PS
350/400 combo's available in Durbs _ thundersport

Re: Sayin Hi
Thanks Craig. A friend and I will be doing the build. And to be honest, we are not up to doing the Jag suspension anyway. Actually just trying to get an idea of what direction we'll be going with the project. I'll look into what can be done suspension wise, but I'm sure I'll get sound advice on here as well.craigd wrote:Welcome to the forum dreamer....

Thanks for the heads up.
I think if I can get a decent grille between those twin headlights, it'll look much better. And I'm not going for a stock resto anyway.
Re: Sayin Hi
The Deville nose was very sought after by the elky owners in the early 90s.
