be careful of misplaced brand loyalty. Yes you like a brand and you'd like all matching hardware, but at the end of the day they are not the ones paying for your vehicles, you are with your own money out your own pocket. Sometimes you got to protect your own wallet above the image you'd like to portray and just use the proven and affordable lexus V8 or GM small block. Guarantee you won't be the first or the last oke to put a lexus v8 into a Nissan.

The Lexus V8 seems to be a common conversion swap these days, anything from SsangYong's, Mitsubishi Colts, Toyota, Nissan and Ive even seen a 5 series BMW and a MK2 Ford Escort and a Ford Sapphire with these motors

Seems Lexus conversions are as popular these days, as Essex V6 conversions was in the 80's.

When you do get a quote, please share it with the forum, I think we all are wondering what a successful conversion amounts to.

My brother in laws Toyota conversion as follows.
The company in Pretoria had to supply motor and auto box, all wiring, radiator and cooling system, engine management, full exhaust system, gear shift and mechanism, engine and gearbox mountings, etc, the complete conversion as turn Key cost him +-R62k including fitment and labour and the cam covers and intake manifold were colour coded to the cars colour.

That would mean, you could buy this, for the cost of the conversion:

Yip Jeeps especially the V8 don't have a resale value. We have plenty in storage here at Aucor and when they go on auction they don't get very good prices.

The new SRT 8 is still ok as is the Diesel in the new shape. I could have picked up a clean 2004 Grand Cherokee 4.7lt V8 Limited for R30k, it had 160k on the clock

Do not touch the 4.7 Jeep engine with a barge pole - NOT a Mopar engine, but a halfbreed while they where in bed with Mercedes.

and they do not have a very good reputation.

This topic is getting veru interesting as i always said i am brand loyal but Eish  Brand does not pay i have to pay at the end of the day. I wanted a Lexus 4.3 VVTI Engine, auto box & its management for R15000-00 in my 1974 Chevy Suburban 4x4 Crew bus but  :? my brand loyalty kicked in now im still. The conversion will set me back around 25-30K as most of the work will be DIY. I will have to rethink this again as i'm new to V8 world.
