Hi all,
I was watching a video on YouTube recently where they converted a carb engine to fuel injection.
My technical knowledge is very limited, but it was always my understanding that this is quite a difficult process.
However, in the video they used a MSD Atomic EFI system, and the install looked fairly easy.
Granted, its a basic system but you do not need a laptop to tune the engine so it looks quite fool proof.
The full conversion kit costs around $2,500 so it in not particularly cheap, but I was expecting much worse.
Does anyone have any experience with this system? Alternatively, what is available in SA to do the conversion?

Re: Converting to fuel injection
I understand the FAST EFI is also very easy to setup and quite effective.
Locally Mr Turbo sells the V8 throttle body for around 3k. I'm not sure if it includes the injectors and I think it works with their efi system.

Spitronics sell a complete carb to EFI system for the Nissan 1400 @ R6300, and from memory they did one for the V8 Land Rover guys too.

They also sell a 4-barrel Holley style throttle body housing @ R4800, they should be able to supply the rest of the system too, injectors, management, etc. for a lot cheaper than the MSD setup.

Try contact them for more info.

Re: Converting to fuel injection
mmm ..... interesting.
I have also been toying with this idea for a while now.
but the quotes I got...., it was cheaper just to buy a complete LS engine.
which I just cannot get to do to my car...
I need to give spitronics a call.
TBI vs multipoint?
any views? advice? pitfalls?
especially someone who has done the conversion?
thx

Check with Hanov0 on the forum. He had a Torker II intake modified to take injectors.
