Mustang Exhaust

Post by Mustang Sally » Fri 22 Jan 2016, 09:05

Hi Guys, pick some brains please?

On the Mustang build we've gone for a 4 link rear suspension. This has resulted in the space between the diff, body and fuel tank being quite restricted on the left side of the car (the mobile side of the 4 link). It leaves me with a couple of options for routing the exhaust: 1. Make the tight squeeze over the diff, 2. Stop the exhaust before the diff (not very keen on this one!), 3. Bring it out as side pipes.

Any other suggestions or experience with this would be appreciated, thanks.

Well the best solution will be before the diff, if you squeeze it over the diff there might be a restriction and loss of power, although it will be very little the worst will be klonking and knocking noise if you go over a hump or dip, that will destroy the enjoyment witch a drive in a car like that will give.

Just in front of the rears can work, but when not done proper it can look out of place and spoil it more. If it was a Shelby look a like well the side kick out in the side skirts look awesome.

What size pipe will you be running and the clearance gaps between diff and body?

Side pipes just before the wheels with a big flat non bling look could work.

Wow! Thanks Indy, these pics give oodles of options!

Thanks Hano and Andre - I really like the "there but not there" option.

MM, looking at running 63mm pipes but maybe upping to 70's if space will allow.

Thanks for all the input guys, much appreciated!
