Hello Friends,

Are there differences in Ford 9-inch diffs coming out of cars...Fairlanes etc. and one from trucks...like F100 and F250, except for differences in ratios ?

Is a 9-inch a 9-inch ?

Yes , you get different lengths and axle splines and axle bearings but the center section is one and the same ...the bolt patterns and drums may differ on trucks and cars depending on what years etc ...

The difference in yokes on a Standard 28 spline pinion to fit 1310 universals vs 35 spline pinion with 1350 universals.

......and to really confuse matters, 28, 31 and 33 spline side shafts cases uses a 3.062" case bore, and a 35 spline uses a 3.250" case bore and 40 spline a 3.812" case bore.

After market stuff is the way to go when starting to make bigger HP.

I haven't broken this one yet.

Oom Johan I have only seen 9 inch diffs on high horsepower cars. I was thinking you meant to say, rather stick a ford diff under a chevy!
