Fuel percolation
Fuel percolation
Hi folks I have a Peugeot 404 and it has a tendency to have a hard start just after few minutes of parking, if you park it longer it will start first time. In the mornings it always starts first time. Took it to a carb specialist who checked my carb, he says it's all good but it is percolating due to modern unleaded fuels. He advised that I get bakelite spacers to use between the inlet manifold and carburetor base, thickness must be 5mm. My challenge is getting hold of this bakelite material to make gaskets from it. What are my options, where can I get hold of it? He says any electrical shop should have it, I tried a few and they couldn't help. If I can't find it what other material can we use? I'm in the Johannesburg area, thanks in advance.

Re: Fuel percolation
In Kemton Park: http://www.dcwort.co.za/ or Maizey Plastics https://www.maizey.co.za/
Other issues may contribute as well. Report back after fitting the spacer?
