R30000

This could possibly be a bargain?

That is an excellent price - the Merc 114/115 and 123 coupe's are getting scarce - lovely cars.

Depending on the condition of mechanicals this can be a very good buy.

For the money, this would make an excellent "Bull Run" car :D ......perhaps not everybody's idea of using a classic however.

'71 Ford Capri Perana
'84 Ford Sierra XR8
'65 Ford Mustang Convertible
'72 Landy SWB "88 series 3

'78 CJ5 Willys Jeep

Although the emphasis is on fun, Bull Run rules calls for a car that costs no more than R20000(including purchase price, repairs, registration and maintenance), and preference are given to 4 door sedans.
There are a lot of 4-door W115/W123 M-B's out there that fall into that category, coupes are too scarce.

Very true Indy

I just thought if one could get something similar for the price limit in the rules of the Bull run, I would consider.

However, I would prefer an old V8 banger......lots of fun between the old brandy, smokes and tire burn-outs.

Something like a Rambler Hornet, Pontiac Grand-Prix(had one which I bought for R22k), Chrysler 383, Ford LTD, Constantia, Galaxie, anything big with at least a standard fitted V8 will do!!

We're hoping to go next year......now just to find a car :D :D

Sure would sound good, and have lots of style, but it's a tall order to get anything V8 powered and running for under 35k. Just a rebuild American V8 engine would most likely cost 35k.

There are lost of options, I've thought of using Cortina's, Granada's, Skyline's, Laurel's etc, but am now kinda sweet on an old 5-Series Beemer (E12/E24) for running on the pan, sweet six cylinder and perhaps it has a LSD as standard. Some Alfa's may also be good fun.
