Chances are good its genuine I think. Those sill molds look right. And the dashes were swapped because they cracked easily?

That car looks good but at that price I would want an original bonnet and original wheels.

Howzit Ben!

My father has been chasing this one up as we're on the look-out for a clean XR8.....

It all looks okay but as we've yet to go and look at the car, the owner has been a little reluctant to give us details regarding the tags etc. Have discussed this car in depth with other members and it seems to be a fraud.

Owner has now disappeared with no more feedback - says he keeps on forgetting to get pictures of the tags etc.....yeah right :|

I'm heading back to SA tomorrow and was planning to go and view car although I think I'm wasting my time here.....

Problem is that even if the engine was to be legit, the body could still be a donor as there's no way you can prove it's the real McCoy. This is the problem with certain Ford-models - only have tags which can be re-produced and get moved from one car to the next. The same goes for the Perana's although you have to make a sh&tload of changes to the body, suspension etc. to tick the boxes.......

I think based on the pictures it is worth a look, its actually not too easy to replicate an original XR8. I'd have a look at the engine bay, mountings, water pump and radiator as a start.

Hello Jacques

I agree with you fully - there are some items on that car which were only for the XR8 but I still reckon the body might be a donor as we still have not heard from owner :?:

I will however still go and check it out........that's now when I'm able to leave our vessel as the weather has picked up and we can't get off on crew boat, thus no flight tonight :(

There are more tell tale signs on a XR8, seeing as you have the time, browse the forum a bit, there is info on here, unfortunately not grouped together, and PM the experts.
