I think the W126 280s were considered to be a bit anemic for ZA. Unlike an SL thats a lot of car to be dragging around.

My recollection of cars when they were new is that they were mostly 380 and 420, with 500 a bit later. Hey I only 'discovered' there were 280 engined cars when I came to UK in the mid 90s.

LHD, perhaps a US import? Advertised as a 1976 model, but the 560 SL were only produced from '86 I think...

The 280SL 107 always sold higher but now if you find a nice 450SL or 500SL you can expect to pay way over R200k,
Hamptons have probably the most original cleanest example advertised at R495k. in the UK prices have gone mad as well, with some Ive seen advertised for over GBP35,000. one of those cars to find now and park it away for later. Even the SLC values are now going crazy. Obviously you need to know what to look for on these cars as they can bankrupt you. I did my apprenticeship on these car in the mid 80's and have always liked them
