I agree with Nuvesh . I restored a 68 Beetle at a cost of R50k . I had many years of fun with it and decided to sell . I advertised it for R25K hopping to get R20k. That price range brought along the tire kickers and idiots looking for a Volla for his son to go to college with offering me R10k . I then upped the price R45K offering to re registering into new owners name and any small faults to be repaired . I then got a Dr interested and spent R2K doing the neccessary and was happy with my R43k . Hang in for your price .

As the saying goes: the asking price is that what the next guy is willing to pay for it........no ceiling.

However, this is still a GT which were re-bodied which means that it's non-matching. In my opinion, that asking price would perhaps cater for the cleanest, most original GT in SA.

Just my 5 cents

As everyone is entitled to their own opinions on the forum. The seller fetching his asking price is not impossible. As I speak from personal experience with the sale of my 66 mustang,I received the very same views from fellow forum members regarding my asking price. With patience and the right buyer coming along I did get very close to my asking price.

Nuvesh all due respect I thought it was overpriced and still do ... Sometimes a willing buyer , sometimes an uninformed buyer and sometimes just a mielie ! Happy that you were able to sell the car and like to know close it was

I have to agree with jlebenon on that silly asking price.

If the uninformed buyer with lots of cash was to come along, then this will raise the bar again wrt the expected price sellers in SA are wanting for a car which don't even fetch that kind of money in Oz (specifically referring to the Rhino).

Perhaps an Ozzie will come to the table for this one. However, from what I understand the Ozzies still prefer to stick with a Falcon GT and will rather convert a 6-cylinder Falcon to a HO Phase 3 for example. Prices have also steadied in recent years for cars imported from SA and the like.

I work with a few Ozzie nuts whom are very passionate about their GT's and Torana's, but they say that our GT's at the most sell now for about 50k Ozzie Dollars - that equates to to about half a mill.

I got more than that for my GT, and I've seen them fetch up to $90k there, fully original low mileage cars not Frikkie Foose specials.

Biggest problem in Oz at present is the economic situation, it's not pretty. So spending on cars is not everyone's priority. That being said there is still a lot of demand for clean, decently priced cars over there.

But then we talking original, matching numbers cars. Not re-bodied/cross tagged monstrosities.
