OK guys - we all love our cars, but who gave their cars nicknames? Or had nicknames given to their cars, and what is the story behind it

In my case or rather my dad's case the Chrysler SE was christened "Die Grys Merrie"(the gray mare) or some times "Die gryse" (The gray one - this does not translate well).
This all started with my mother: the Chrysler is a tow car and she is hauling the load like a grey Percheron mare. She also happened to be metallic silver. Then the 6 departed and the 318 v8 was installed in the middle 80's - my mother commented after driving her for the first time in a singsong voice "The olde gray mare ain't what she used to be"......the name stuck.

Die Grys Merrie in her natural habitat :D

I call mine Harry Potte ( R on the end).

Its a Ford Anglia that will be fitted with side draft carburettors.

Therefore Harry + side drafts = Harry Potte (Not yo mamas pans now  )

Image + Image = Harry Potte

 funnist Anglea name is the historics racing one with Hairy Pora on the plates. I take it it's a Portugese owner with a sense of humor. But I do call them Harry Potter cars in general. Yip the 928 I got asked where's that "flat thing" and   shame a African speed cop pulled me over to ask if my car can fly to the moon cause the lights are looking at the moon. Hehe luckly switching the lights on was enough to impress him and let me go. The Fairlane often gets refered to by the new generation as "now this is a real gangsta car." hehe shame they need to watch older movies.

I call my mustang "Jim", after James T Kirk. His color scheme looks like the original series Star Trek uniform.

The one car I regret selling the most , my 1960 Corvette, was nicknamed "Marilyn" for obvious reasons. Curves in all the right places and pure sex on wheels.

My cars all have names as decided upon by the kids, quite a list...
Fairmont GT: Renoster (Rhino, incedently as they are known and purely their choice)
Cortina 3.0 Gls: Oom Koning Leeu (king Lion because if the rumble and 79 cam idle)
Blue Falcon: Oom Olifant (because its nice and spacious)
White Falcon: Pa se kar (my daily drive)
Orange Capri: Die Monster (because its loud, tempremental, hard suspension and full of sh$t)
Red Escort GT Replica: Foxterrier (Because I race everything that moves when I drive it)
Red Escort mk1:Die Klein Escort (because it used to be a 1300)
Yellow Escort mk2: Baby Gt (because of the Gt stripes I put on the bonnet)
Cortina Bakkie: Die Bakkie ( I hate the name because only a dog eats from a "bakkie")
Capri 3000: die Capri (because its The Capri in the house)
White Escort mk1: Die Hoenderhok (my wife's car and thow looking as new, always dirty)
Mazda F1000: Oore (Ears in afrikaans, comes from Senekal ie ORE, and the wing mirrors look like rabbit ears)

And the list goes on......

There is no Replacement for Displacement!!!
