So who are the competitors for the V8:

Audi RS5
BMW M4
Merc C63 Coupe
Jag XKR
Nissan GTR ??

All over a R1mil. Not too bad. The GT350 is still to come and Im sure will play more in the space of the above list.

I think R700k is a little rich for the 4cyl.

Just for an example, what would you choose. sort of in the same league as the Mustang Turbo 4. If it sells for R700k
SA are apparently getting the Premium versions of the 4cyl and V8, all options.

Competition maybe. 2015 Prices basic no extras.

VW Golf 7 GTi R540k no extras, With options this car can go well over R600k
Audi S3 R576k " " Also probably R700k + with extras
Subaru STi 2.5 R635k not sure what options come o n this car
Mercedes A45 AMG R688K over R750k with extras
BMW 428 Coupe 2.0lt M R625k also well over R700k with extras.

UK testing shows that the quality build of the new Mustang is top notch and handling brilliant,

Choice, regardless I will still go for the Mustang even with the 4cyl turbo.. BUT a V8 would be so good

If you compare the other 4 cyl cars then it's not to bad.

233KW From 2.3 ecboost.
253KW from same motor in Ford Focus RS

So there is aftermarket goods available to get more power out of the 2.3 turbo.

Dont throw away the 4 cylinder Mustang yet. Yes die hard fans will want the v8 but there is also the guys that want to use the car daily and the 4 cylinder will have decent fuel economy. Very good alternative to mainstream hatchback/sedans at R600-700k.

Like Imsomnia said. Tuning on the 4 cyl will be done and there is room for lots more Hp. Same engine as the new Focus RS with 345hp out the box.

SO. I think this is in line or cheaper than equivalent opposition, although to be honest My personal opinion is the Mustang is in its own class.

On the V8 at 309 kw, you have to compare maybe the BMW435M at R875k excl extras OR the M4 man at R1,068 Mill and the M4 Auto at R1,117 mill OR Audi RS5 V8 over R1mill.

I think if you look at the spec of the 4cyl turbos internals I think it has over 500hp capability

People are already tuning the 4cyl turbo mustangs in the US. This one is the most publicized:
