Importing from the USA

Post by THE ONE » Wed 19 Aug 2015, 16:27

Hi guys. Im looking at bringing in some parts from the USA off E bay. What is the procedures involved, and who do you recommend for shipping? The online resources gives me a quote of 500 dollars on a 5 dollar part. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Try postboxcourier. They give you a local address there and just forward to your door. You can get a quote on the site first as well.

Hey
What part are you looking for? and have you checked local before Ebay?
Do they specify USPS for shipping?

Depends on the type of parts, browse around on Ebay, parts are available from different vendors, each quote differently on shipping. Using the USPS shipping option is usually the cheapest, although it is the slowest, just make sure it gets send tracked. Also ask the seller if shipping can be combined, when buying multiple items.

If it's American auto parts you're after, talk to Ralph @ Motown, I think you'd be surprised at the pricing.

Good luck with using postal service.

i ordered a heater valve from Australia, it got sent via mail.

It arrived here 5 months later.
So i looked at the documents. it landed in SA 8 days after it was sent from Aus. it was lying here for 4 months and 3 weeks.....

As you say Maverick, gets to SA quick enough, then the trouble starts.
But my limited experience is, that if it is send with a tracking number, like most US Ebay vendors do, all is well, 2-3 weeks to your door.
If it is send untracked, then get ready to wait for 4 months.
