Movember

Post by jmvv » Thu 05 Nov 2015, 13:32

So, in the spirit of Movember, I have decided to stop shaving for the month of November.

When I bounced the idea off my loving (read long suffering) wife of thirty three years, she asked me if I am now getting lazy in my later years.

I am now four days into the experiment, and so far, I have come to realise that grey stubble have none of the sexiness that some dudes can manage to pull off with their darker facial growth.

Anybody else on this crazy horse?

I've had three shaves after I done my militery in Dec 77.

First for a church service when I got home and then for my wedding thirty years ago.

While still working for a news paper as printer, I had quit a long beard. (Woes om die minste te se). Then one morning as I got home I decided to shave it .

Our bathroom was entered through two doors in the build in cupboard. I was only half asleep when my wife's clock went off and peeping through one eye I watched her going to the bathroom. The doors closed, so she did not notice.

Next moment. KLANG KLANG KLANG.

Doors almost out of the hinges and when I peeped again, her face was less than Half a meter from mine.

She said later on she thought it was a stranger lying in her bed.

Since then I keep it to a number two cut.

I absolutely hate shaving, but will do it every three months or so once my face starts itching and it interferes with sleeping (and when i can start pinching it with my lips)

I'm at that phase now but will stick it out for movember. Maybe I'll shave my head then I'll look like a cranky bliksem!

Not all are cranky, or bliksems?!

I have grown a bokkie...or a "bok" as my wife refers to it  . On a recent flight to Durban my next-door seat passenger remarked" You look like Guthro Steenkamp...?" His answer to my "why?" was "Lyk of jy almal wil donder!" .

I have never had a mustache or beard...never will.

When it comes to the wife its easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission!

The lawyer that won our neighbourly case last year had the bald + massive beard look. Looks very intimidating. But he's a sweetheart, a real softie.
