The world has really gone to the dogs!.. Here we worry about seeing the light of day-survival of the fittest / wild west- there they take your car , sell it- even if you simply leave a tire mark on the road!.. WTF!..
They obviously have not watched GMG before!.
The world has just gone crazy!..
Cheers,

We worry about the crap in SA, seems over there property you own does not actually belong to you if they can confiscate it and then sell. Who gets the money from the sale apart from a fine. the owner seems to have lost the car without compensation. To hell with that, I would have torched the car so they could not sell it.

After the car was sold and costs of storage and sale were deducted, proceeds would be used to pay out any security interests, the High Court decision said.Gavin RS wrote:We worry about the crap in SA, seems over there property you own does not actually belong to you if they can confiscate it and then sell. "If no security interest is held over the car then, subject to deduction of Mr McLean's fines and relevant court costs and levies, the balance would be paid to him."

Jassas this makes me the moer in.
Bunch of blackshirt dickless wonders. Essentially his rights to private property have been dragged through the fascist arsecrack of the NZ nanny state for what? Smoking his rear tyres? Unbelievable.
We got problems in ZA, but it remains a free country and for that I'm eternally grateful.

Re: SA Built Fairmont GT confiscated in New Zealand
As South Africans we enjoy the "lawlessness" if it works in our favour, but detest it when it works against us.
While this instance is harsh, Australia and NZ take their road obligations seriously. With all of the V8's sold there, burnouts are quite a big problem. Every weekend you can hear the Ford and Holden guys drifting around traffic circles, in car parks, and just doing burnouts on the public roads. I was quite surprised to see this as I thought everyone over there obeys the law. They don't. The only difference is that if you get caught there, you are in trouble. In SA, you can get away with pretty much anything. All good until you or a loved one is taken out by a reckless road user. How would you feel then?
What this article doesn't state, is how many offences this guys was caught for before, or if he was unlicensed, the car unlicensed etc... My 2c worth.
