Hi.
I hope someone can assist me with these questions.

I have these crome wheels on one of my Perana Ghia. The other one has the same wheels but in black and silver. The crome ones were they an option to the Perana Ghia? Even the spare wheel is crome.

As far as I know the correct wheels for the Granada Perana are chrome with blacked out parts, just like the standard painted wheels.

I believe that is correct on the XL models but I have seen one more Ghia with these wheels. Also I found a set for sale in SA as well.

Do we actually know what BG offered as options back then? I do not fancy the wheels and would gladly send them away anytime. But if the car came with these off the BG line I have to keep them. Why bother having the spare wheel done in crome if it did not come as an option from BG. Most of us changing a set just buy 4.

The Ghia came originally with hubcaps with a crown in the middle and colour matching sides. As an option the sport wheels, black and silver, could be fitted at extra cost. From 75 the Ronald aluminum wheels were standard, in Europe.

Many BG Granadas are not correct equipped according to factory specs, they built a 76 GL with Ghia colour matching hubcaps and we have a 73 XL here with Ghia spec woodgrain dashboard. So I think BG made his cars his way in order to make them special and stand out a little.

So back to my question about the cromed wheels on mine, it is an early produced Ghia, found some numbers on the car dating back to November 73. The Ghia was first introduced in April 74. These cars in question left BG in June and the other Ghia I have left BG in November. The last car has the optional sport wheels, painted silver and black.
I have also seen a picture of one Ghia 74 with the cromed wheels and also, as mentioned previously, as set of the cromed ones has been for sale in SA.
Therefore how can these cromed wheels not be an option?

Hi, sorry can't help with the wheels or the V8 badges you have but BG used the same V8 badges as used by Rover on the SD1 here in the UK.
I have seen Perana Granada's with standard wheels and hubcaps.
Cheers

The first 100 1973 Granada Peranas had Granada GT wheels Ford part number 72GB-1007-BE.

This I know because I am looking at a photo of a typed sheet dated 1 December 1972 that has this part number pencilled in next to the description. Photographed by me in BG's study in Jan 2010.

Also see wheels on this, photographed on the same day:

More.

All the early cars I saw in 73 has chromed wheels with blackouts. I cannot recall seeing one with painted wheels.

The Granada Perana Ghias came later, and those had Ghia style wheels.
So I think BG made his cars his way in order to make them special and stand out a little.
Not true, Granada Peranas were official Ford products. Other than the drivetrain, the first cars were standard in looks with the exception of:
* sport wheels
* Perana badges in the standard side badge casting
* V8 badge front and rear
* 'Automatic' badge on the boot lid

Hi, if you don't have any V8 badges on your car this is what they should look like.
The one with the yellow background is an original on my Perana Capri and the other three are copies that I have.

Thank you paulusvrotius1.

When I found this out some time ago I bought enough for 10 cars just to have a little spare.

Thank for the info though.
