Today was the first day in a long time that I spent in the garage, tinkering... It was an absolute blast, Working with a beauty like this does make it more enjoyable.
She's being sitting for a while and it was time to start getting her cleaned up.. I will post some pics when she's done.

Absolutely stunning! Looks to be very original, what is the plan? Restoration or preservation?

Very, very rare car in SA.

@ZAPerana, thanks, definitely preservation, the car is too good to be restored, it would be a shame. We just going through fuel lines now, exhaust needs replacing and few minor odds and ends. Then a good wash and polish, she will come out like new.

@Roelb, she's an early built 1964, from the New Jersey plant, with a 390Cu V8. She is the XL model, which was a sub series to the 500 lineup. The XL, came out with twin bucket front seats, centre console and polished trim. This car has her original interior, and barring a blow over she is utterly untouched. She has her original rare manual 4 speed gearbox.

I see pictures of this car are posted on FB under a vendor that sells classic cars......

I'd be interested in the history of this car, looks like it hasn't been driven in decades. Also interesting is colour wise its identical to the one Bob Olthoff drove in the 1964/65 Saloon car series.

@Roelb https://www.vintagemotors.co.za/single- ... car-indeed

@ZAperana, The car has being stored for 20 years, and the owner has owned it for 50 years. It was factory red, with factory red interior. I am just going through the car now to get the car mobile. She has being on stilts for those 20 years, because the owner didn't want the brand new tyres to get damaged.
Hopefully by the end of the week we will have her mobile and we will be able to take her out of her hiding spot. I doubt the car belonged to Bob Olthoff, the car is too neat to have being a racer.. I will try get more info on history and post it.

So the question is the car being sold? What I meant is Bob Olthoff raced an near identical red Galaxie Coupe. Such long term ownership is very special and undoubtedly the history will be something special because I very much suspect this car was special import and equally the spec being so closed to the Olthoff one means the original owner may have ordered this combination as a homage of some sort.

@Roel: yip one of my dream Fords to own. I really do hope if this is sold it doesn't end up with a set of 20 inch wheels on it and hot rodded. That would be a crime in my opinion.
