Factory Pictures

Post by ZA Perana » Sun 10 Mar 2019, 20:49

I have always wondered this, cars like the Fairmont GT arrived in CKD yet I have never seen a picture of what these CKD cars looked like, likewise the Can Am production line, were they built on the same line as the regular Firenza?

There are a few picture of Basil Green Motors but it seems factory pictures of this era are very rare.

I remember going to the Ford assembly plant in PE in the early 1970's and at the time the Mk1 Granada was being built. There were stacks of panels all over the place so I guess that's how they were shipped from UK and Germany. Some local content went into the interiors I believe.

This may be, I believe, why not many pictures were taken/allowed in the assembly plants locally....and of course espionage? Even pictures outside of the factory, perhaps dealer pictures. These seem equally rare.....

Very interesting. Why do you think those shots are nowhere to be found? Could corporate espionage really be the main reason? I mean, can't these things be relatively easily reverse engineered already?

I suppose it happens the same as with family photos. Some people don't take care to preserve it.
