C10 Help with info, please

Post by 1250bandit » Sat 27 Apr 2019, 21:22

Hi Everyone. Been a while since I last posted. Sold my Jeep after completion, bought a Lumina SS Ute sold that (was just too perfect and not a project :D ), now got a proper project today.....a Chevy C10. There are a few things I "spotted" that needs serious attention first.

It has the 4.1 straight 6 and 3 speed box, floor shift. Apparently it jumps out of third gear, I could not test this as it is too bloody hard to turn the steering wheel. It does have very wide rims/wheels/tyres, however I did not expect it to turn this hard. My wife laughed at my facial expression as i was fighting the steering wheel

Anyway, when I finally got the C10 in the garage, I struggled to also get it into neutral, it felt mushy seemed the gear lever was slipping some way I know this sounds strange, however after "jiggling it" managed to get it in neutral.

So first on the list will be the steering and gearbox. Any idea what could cause this steering bind? Maybe change totally to power steering? What parts could I use?

Thanks
Hein

This looks beautiful 👍, I grew up in one of those. Wish one day I could revive it from my father's kraal
